20/5/09 WDPS
We have not come for a number of lessons, because there is a horrible H1N1, Influenza A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE HATE IT!!!!!!!
WE WANT TO GO TO TAIWAN!!!!!!!!!!! (WE ARE KIND OF DISAPPOINTED) Don't worry because we will pray very hard that the H1N1 will not spread to neither Taiwan nor Singapore!
Sunflowers
It has been a while since we have seen the sunflower. The last time we saw it, it was starting to grow a flower. (Singapore) I think it has bloomed by now... ...
Today... ...
Our sunflower has grown of a height of roughly about 47cm! (Taiwan) We also took a look at the sunflowers which were growing tall and healthy, the we found out that one of the sunflowers have dried up and the petals started falling. We also saw a leaf containing pollen grains because the pollen grains from that sunflower has landed on it's leaves.
Bad news... ...
I watched the news... they said that.. An Amercian doctor (in Taiwan) got the H1N1 thingy. we are very afraid!!!
Nicole : Just to tell you, I don't care how long you postpone it (but it must be AsSoonAsPossible) but please spare my life!!!

datalogger experiment_To see if the leaf needs carbon dioxide during photosynthesis (Woodlans Primary School)
MAterials : Leaf (From the Singapore sunflower) , datalogger, CO2 gas sensor connected to the datalogger, a glass bottle and last but not least, a light (lamp from IKEA)
First off we placed the leaf inside the bottle with the help of blue tac. Then Shalini (one of our group member) blew gently into the bottle. She produced CO2. Then we set the datalogger to 30 minutes. Then we placed the CO2 gas sensor on the tip of the bottle. Then we on the light.
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_WAITING IN PROGRESS-_-_-_ -_-_-_-_-_-_-_
Then HORRAY!! We've got our results! We noticed that the graph (from the datalogger) first got higher (increase in carbon dioxide) then lower.(decrease in carbon dioxide) We can also see some water droplets in the bottle.
Carbon dioxide is needed during photosynthesis.
Conclusion: The amount of carbon dioxide decreased as the leaf is taking it in to make food.

PBL activity -- Checking and Action (Woodlands Primary School)
We did some changes in our planning, we plucked out the leaves and made sure that the stem was of the same height. After the experiment, we got a blue and a little green colour in the rose. but the carnation only had blue coloured petals. The outcome of our prediction was wrong because it was suppose to be really half blue and half green, yet it is more blue than green (Rose). The carnation was only blue colour. To improve the experiment we must have petals of the same size, we should also have the same shade of dye.
